As indicated from the climatological observatory of the National University of Catamarca, there are between 20 and 40% probability that this winter has temperatures higher than normal, although there will be days with very low minimum temperatures, they will be above those recorded during the past year.
This estimate covers the months of June, July and August. “There will be days with low low temperatures but they will not be as frequent as previous years. last year at the beginning of July there were 7.4 records below zero. Maybe this year they are not so low, there will be cold days but it is expected in the quarterly prognosis that will be less frost,” said Uriel Flores, director of the Central Tomorrow Observatory, in Ancasti Streaming.
In this sense, Flores explained that it is a mass of subtropical airs that remain in the environment, affecting not only Catamarca, but also the northwest and other regions of the country, such as the Pampas. “This 30 years ago did not happen and is related, although many overestimities, to global warming, which is one of the main causes of climate change,” he warned.
In addition, he said that these conditions will remain even during the next week. “In the last 15 years the anomalies (in the weather) in the region and in the province come in progressive increase. This affects the stations, there is a shift, it is reached, for example, a late fall. In fact, next week we will have maximums that will be around 28 and 29 degrees,” he explained.

According to the projections, only at the end of May and in the first weeks of June, temperatures are expected to register more consistent with the time of the year.
Here, the minimums are expected to be below 10 degrees at the end of the month and do not exceed 5 at the beginning of June, while the maximums will be just above 20.
Nationally
Catamarca will not be the only province that experiences these temperatures during the winter time. According to the National Meteorological Service, except Córdoba, Santiago del Estero, Chaco, Formosa, Este de Salta and San Luis and West of Santa Fe that have temperatures according to the station, the rest of the provinces will have a thermal anomaly above the usual, which somehow confirms the hegemonic trend of recent years.
