German Chancellor Friedrich Merz reiterated this Friday that the security and existence of Israel are “state reason” for Germany. He did it during a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamín Netanyahu, within the framework of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.
Merz condemned Hamas’s terrorist attack on October 7, 2023 “in the most energetic terms” and expressed concern about hostages and the critical humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
Likewise, the German Chancellor expressed his hope that concrete negotiations will soon begin for a fire in the conflict between Israel and Hamas, which has climbed in recent months.

“The Federal Government will proceed in a determined way against anti -Semitism,” said executive spokesman Stefan Kornelius, before the rebound of hate speeches after attacks.
Merz and Netanyahu also dialogue about the situation in Syria and highlighted the next visits of the presidents of both countries to commemorate the 60 years of diplomatic relations.
In addition, the German Foreign Minister, Johann Wadephul, will travel this weekend to Israel as part of the bilateral agenda between Berlin and Tel Aviv.
