The CEM summons Mexicans to rejoice for the beginning of the new Pope’s pontificate.
The Mexican Episcopate Conference (CEM) spoke about the choice of the new Pope Leo XIV, after the death of Pope Francis.
In a press release, the president of the CEM, Ramón Castro Castro, stressed that the Holy Spirit guides the election, and “in it we recognize the will of Jesus Christ that in the person and ministry of the Pope will continue to guide us to fulfill the mission that the Church and the world need at this time in history.”
Ramón Castro invited all the people who pilgrim in Mexico to raise prayers for the Holy Father and be happy for the beginning of his pontificate.
-“The Second Vatican Council reminds us that Jesus Christ, eternal shepherd, built the Holy Church sending his apostles the same as he was sent by the Father, and wanted the successors of their, the bishops, the shepherds were in their church until the consummation of centuries.”
He added that for the apostolic school himself to be one and undivided, he put Peter at the head of the other apostles.
“As bishops of the Church that pilgrim in Mexico we adhere in subsidiary obedience to the successor of the apostle Peter and we appreciate his generous yes by accepting this mission with faith and hope,” he continued.
“That Saint Mary of Guadalupe accompanies him and strengthens in this mission that our Lord Jesus Christ trusts him at the head of his Church, so that we can walk together, in communion and synodality, after the footprints of Christ Good Shepherd,” he concluded.
