The murder of a second sergeant of the Navy of Ecuador shocked south of Guayaquil on Thursday, May 8. The victim, identified as Domingo Abdón Reasco Godoy, was shot dead when he reached his home in the Landless Proletarian cooperative, in the South Guasmo sector, after having been at medical rest due to a foot affair.
According to witnesses, the attackers mobilized on a Yamaha ZF black motorcycle with yellow details. They wore sportswear and after intercepting the Reasco vehicle, opened fire without a word. Several percussed pods were scattered on the road, which alerted the neighbors and the agents who arrived at the place.
The military, who was part of the Intelligence Unit of the Naval Operations Command (Coopna), was urgently transferred to the Naval Hospital, where his death was confirmed. Hours after the crime, the security block – conformed by members of the Armed Forces and the National Police – executed an operation that allowed the capture of two minors, who would be the alleged perpetrators of the homicide.
The Navy of Ecuador lamented the fact through an official statement and confirmed that the detainees would have found key evidence that directly links them with the murder of Sergeant Reasco. The case continues under investigation.
