Netflix users with older televisions or specific models, will face an interruption in the service as of May 1, 2025.
According to Infobae, the streaming platform announced that it will stop offering access to its content to a list of smart televisions made more than a decade ago.
The measure will be carried out before the need that Netflix has to optimize its contents and services for more modern Smart TV models, which are capable of supporting the new updates that will be installed.
What will be the models of affected televisions?
Among the brands that are included to the extent are the following:
- Sony
- Samsung
- LG
- Panasonic
The models that will cease to be compatible and will not be able to access, so they have previously downloaded the application are:
Sony Bravia line series: KDL, XBR, W95 and X95
Other models of more than 10 years and have technical limitations.
-Why is Netflix making this decision?
Far from being an isolated case, the technology industry is leaving the devices behind that they do not allow its new software updates.
In the case of Netflix, incompatibility is due to reasons for processing, RAM and other more modern connectivity protocols.
These are limitations that do not allow devices to adapt to the demands required by the application to continue innovating in its format and contents, as improvements in the privacy of accounts and visualization quality.
Other visualization options
For users who will be affected, there are some options:
- Acquire external devices such as streaming players
- Consider the renewal of the TV for a more modern one
- Share Netflix visualization from your phone or smart tablet.
