The Socialist party held its act of anniversary number 92 at the Coliseo Theater in Santiago, with the presence of militants, historical leaders and figures of the ruling party. In this context, the senator Paulina Vodanovicpresident of the party and candidate for the presidential primaries of the ruling party, arrived at the scene avoiding referring to recent controversies about the internal contest.
Vodanovic confirmed that next Monday 28 will reveal the names of the team that will work to boost his candidacy towards the primaries. “On Monday we will present the teams at the match headquarters. This is an anniversary act, but we advance with energy,” he said.
Regarding the anniversary act, scheduled to last 90 minutes, started around 8:00 p.m.
Among the authorities present stood out the Secretary General Camilo Escalonathe former deputy Fanny Pollarolo and the Undersecretary General of Government, Nicole Cardochwho arrived minutes before the start.
Electoral projection
Upon taking the floor, Vodanovic highlighted the legacy of the Socialist Party. “We were born to defend workers, with commitment to democracy and our people. We are a humanist party focused on people,” he said.
He added that assuming the presidency of the community is an honor and stressed the need to compete in the primary. “Our ideas must be represented. We have been the axis of progressivism in Chile,” he said.
Consulted about voices within the ruling that ask for a unique candidacy, such as Carolina Toháthe senator replied that “they are respectable opinions, but our party already decided not to get out of the campaign.” He reiterated that the Central Committee, composed of more than 100 leaders, backed his postulation unanimously.
