This Saturday, April 26, in the middle of a massive and moving ceremony in the Plaza de San Pedro, the Chancellor of Colombia, Laura Sarabia, and the first lady, Verónica Alcocer, participated in the funeral of Pope Francis, officially representing the Colombian government before the Holy See.
The Colombian Foreign Ministry confirmed the presence of both representatives through a statement released in their official X account, in which he expressed the feeling of national mourning and respect for the figure of the pontiff.
“We say goodbye with deep pain and thanks. His legacy of humility, peace and hope will remain alive in the heart of the world, ”wrote the entity, along with a series of photographs that show Sarabia and Alcocer during the funeral ceremony, in attitude of recollection and respect.
During the funeral, authorities from all over the world, religious leaders and thousands of faithful gathered to give the last goodbye to Pope Francis, who will be remembered for his proximity to the people, his charism and his tireless defense of human rights and the dignity of the most disadvantaged.
