A frontal collision between a bus that transported a group of children From a musical set and a minor vehicle was recorded early this Sunday at kilometer 191 of Route 5 South, at the height of Curicó, Maule Region.
According to the reports of the Traffic Accident Research Section (SIAT) of Carabineros de Talca, it was a front impact caused because the driver of the smaller car drove in the opposite direction.
“On the eastern road of Route 5 South, near kilometer 191, commune of Curico, an accident materialized in the collision type transit, involving a minor vehicle, a Station Wagon and a bus,” said Lieutenant Nicolás Durán, of the SIAT of Talca.
“Unfortunately, due to the high energy of the impact, the driver of the minor vehicle died at the scene of the accident,” confirmed the lieutenant.
Product of the impact, the bus broke out on the road, leaving several of his passengers “with injuries of different consideration”Durán said. “Which were transferred to different care centers with the purpose of obviously being able to be treated,” he added.
At the moment, the detail of the injuries is unknown and how many minors would have been affected. The SIAT continues the work on the route and is taking statements to the witnesses of the incident.
