Caracas, April 28, 2025 (PAHO/WHO) .- Between April 27 and May 4, the “Bolivarian celebration of immunization 2025” is being held in Venezuela, a special day that aims to intensify during that period the efforts that are carried out in the field of immunization in the entire national territory.
This initiative is part of the Integral Health Vaccination Intensification Plan, which has more than 10,000 vaccinators and 5,400 active vaccination stalls throughout the country.
These vaccination points are located in public squares, educational institutions, comprehensive diagnostic centers (CDI), ambulatory and popular offices, and there vaccines such as BCG, hepatitis B, polio, viral pentavalent, yellow fever, measles and diphtant tetanus toxoid are offered.
Although the day is aimed at the general population and anyone can go to be vaccinated, the main objective is to reach groups of greater vulnerability, such as children under six, school -age children, pregnant women and indigenous population.
Before the regional alert for yellow fever and the existing outbreaks for this disease in neighboring countries such as Colombia and Brazil, the application of the yellow fever vaccine to the population under 59 years is also prioritized.
Not only vaccination positions were reactivated in the 24 federal units that the country has, but in several states they include vaccination activities house by house, strategies such as the Luciérnaga plan (Immunization days at night) are resumed and health goes to school and special vaccination days directed to the indigenous population and in the border states are made.
Under the slogan “vaccinating is to protect: the health of our children is the first!”, This initiative also contemplates educational activities to raise awareness about the importance of vaccines in disease prevention.
