The president stressed in X that “with the brave people of Vietnam, its party, state and government, Cuba celebrates as its own 50th anniversary of the liberation of the south and the reunification of the country’s brother.”
The eve, the Caribbean nation commemorated the historical date in a solemn act that was attended by the head of state and senior representatives of the Government and the Communist Party of Cuba.
The Vietnam ambassador to Havana, Le Quang Long, said that half a century ago the great victory in the spring of 1975 ended the prolonged resistance, opening a new era of independence and reunification for the Indochina Nation.
He recalled that “in the most difficult periods of resistance, Cuba has always been at the forefront of the international movement in support of Vietnam.
The Caribbean island “was the first country in the world to recognize the liberation front of South Vietnam,” he recalled.
“Solidarity between Vietnam and Cuba, promoted by leaders Fidel Castro and President Ho Chi Minh, forged over war and difficult years, has become an invaluable treasure of our two peoples,” said Le Quang Long.
