The Attorney General of the Republic controls criminal proceedings that are processed by vandalism that occurred, mainly in Havana, against passenger transport. People identified as alleged authors have been arrested and secured with the precautionary measure of provisional imprisonment, and at the moment they work for the contribution of the means of evidence and culmination of the investigations.
The accused launched stones and other overwhelming objects that caused lesions to passengers and drivers, which binds the uselessness of these media due to the breakage of windshields and doors. For any person it is to assume that actions of this type could produce these results, and that with this act they affect legal assets of high significance for society.
In difficult economic circumstances, aggravated by the resurgence of the United States government blocking against our country, huge efforts are made to maintain the transportation of the population that, like other public services, has affectations that hinder daily life.
Behaviors of this nature are not related to ethics, solidarity and the values that characterize our people, nor with their performance in the different sectors, despite the difficulties.
With the respect for the rights and guarantees that enshrine the Constitution and the laws, the Prosecutor’s Office will exercise the public criminal action before the courts for the judgment of those responsible, with the request for sanctions in correspondence with the lesivity of the facts committed, the circumstances in which they occurred and the personal conduct of those involved, on which it will be reported in a timely manner.
The Attorney General’s Office will continue to act in accordance with its constitutional commission, within the framework of legality, the protection of the interests of the State and the rights of all persons.
