Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, announced on the social network X his departure to Russia to attend the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of victory over fascism and 65 years of restoration of relations between Cuba and Russia.
The first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, Díaz-Canel stressed: “Cuba will be this May 9 in the Red Square. It will be an honor.”
This Saturday morning, the president headed a political act and a military ceremony in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism.
The ceremony took place in the mausoleum to the Soviet internationalist soldier, located on the outskirts of Havana, where the remains of combatants of the former Soviet republics who lost their lives in Cuba during a mission rest.
The tribute began with the placement of floral offerings before the Eternal Flame, on behalf of the Russian Federation, the Republics of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, as well as the Revolutionary Armed Forces and the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the peoples.
