At the Fedemuoros Summit, where several regional mayors of the country participated, There were moments of tension between the municipal leaders and the President of the Republic, Gustavo Petro.
Several mayors took the floor and claimed the Colombian president for the public order situation in the country, as in the case of the mayor of Jamundí, Paola Castillo.
“We have had more than 60 terrorist attacks and harassment to our public force with explosives during the past year. We have more than 26 thousand victims in our municipality and, unfortunately, recent facts that hurt us in the soul, which is a child under 11, a minor, a kidnapped baby,” said Castillo.
And he noted: “Mr. President, he has absolutely shocked this situation. These attacks and these facts carried out by armed groups that do not want peace, by armed groups that insist on continuing on the war. Mr. President, this is not a speech, it is a reality. ”
“It is a sad reality that the leaders face day to day and that we face with the nails, without sufficient resources, without sufficient public force, without sufficient technological tools, without intelligence personnel who allow us Jamundí in the auditorium.
In turn, Graciela Hernández, mayor of Puerres, in the department of Nariño, also questioned the National government for the issue of resources for the regions.

“Mr. President, at this time, we, the mayors and the mayors, we are sad because In the ministries they have not even given us. And it is the order of the Presidency. We have worked day and night to have the projects viable. They are in phase three, already with technical, financial viability, with a start act; And it is an impudence, Mr. President, that some ministers, ministries, have not disbursed the money, ”insisted the municipal president.
The mayor of Soacha, Julián Sánchez, also took the floor: “However, Insecurity has become the common concern of all local leaders. ”

In addition, he said in the event that was attended by Petro: “It is imperative to reinforce the foot of strength, provide better capabilities to our police and public force, advance comprehensive prevention strategies. Total peace will only be possible if we first guarantee the security of our communities”.
Given the claims of the mayors, the Colombian president replied arguing that, the difficult fiscal situation that his government is going through, obeys the sinking of the tax reform and the measures of the high courts of laying the tax on hydrocarbons.
