The District municipality of Santiago de Surco ordered the temporary closure of the Caminos del Inca Shopping Center After detecting serious structural and administrative irregularities during a series of inspections carried out in its facilities.
The measure seeks to safeguard the safety of merchants and visitors to the breach of basic standards.
It happened during a live broadcast, while Mario Reyna offered statements to a radio medium on alleged irregularities in the SEDALIB SA SERVICES COMPANY
Among the most critical observations, municipal inspectors found mechanical elevators and stairs in poor condition, the unauthorized installation of a metal ladder over a public area and the irregular operation of two sports courts without a license at the top of the building.
Jean Lazo Torres, economic development manager of the commune, explained that, although the establishment has three different administrations, they share essential infrastructure, which increases the risks in the case of an emergency.
“The elevators and stairs must be operational to guarantee the safety of all users,” said the official.
As reported by the Municipality, the administrators of the mall had already been previously notified to submit the corresponding operability certificates, but did not meet the requirements.
Torres Lazo stressed that this closure does not respond to an arbitrary decision, but is part of a firm control policy to enforce safety and operation.
The mall will remain closed until all the observations indicated and the permits required by law are corrected. The municipality will continue with the supervisions in other commercial centers of the district to prevent similar situations.
