Ontinyent
The Xàtiva-Ontinyent Department of Health and the Brome Foundation have agreed to adhesion to the Espeint campaign with the aim of motivating reading in Valencian and transforming the waiting rooms of their hospitals and health centers into reading spaces, within the commemoration of the International Book Day.
The campaign is funded by the Department of Education, Culture, Universities and Employment through the Bromera Foundation that is already developing it in the Department of Health of La Ribera.
To carry out this initiative, more than 100 exhibitors will be distributed among the waiting rooms of the Lluís hospital of Xàtiva, the general Hospital of Ontinyent and the consultation area of the new Ontinyent hospital, as well as in the 73 primary care centers that the department has, distributed by four regions.
The exhibitors of these reading points contain books in Valencian of the collection arrive in Valencià of the Bromera Foundation. Each exhibitor includes a total of 22 books by Valencian authors and the images of the covers are illustrated by illustrators of the region. In addition, each exhibitor will be accompanied by 50 marks, posters and canvases that will help to give visibility to the campaign and to remember the importance of reading.
-The theme of books is linked to leading a healthy life, family relationships, emotions and the importance of overcoming fears. These are short stories with a simple and accessible syntax for an adult and family audience. Books can be read quickly and with entertaining stories.
The objective is that users and patients can enjoy books in waiting rooms, use the marks to resume their reading in an upcoming visit or be able to take them on loan. The initiative also provides for the possibility of participation of users in a contest through which they can win a lot of books.
Importance of reading
There are already numerous scientific studies that report on the importance of reading in the contribution of healing processes of the disease in general and the ailments and make the process more bearable. Approach reading and promoting it in waiting rooms aims to be a more instrument of humanization of health care, as well as another tool to make diseases bearable.
The 73 primary care centers and the three hospital centers of the Xàtiva-Ontinyent department gather in their waiting rooms thousands of users, so the Bromera Foundation proposal to bring reading to patients and companions will get it closer to a large part of the citizenship.
The act of presenting and commissioning of the “Espeint” campaign will take place on May 7 at an act open to all health department professionals who will undoubtedly accompany patients and users in which the campaign achieves its purpose: to promote reading among citizens.
