(Caracas, April 22, 2025) .- In the month of November, the VII stem Cell Congress will be held in Venezuela, where the latest updates in regenerative medicine will be addressed.
During the healthy attitude program, broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión, the head of the Cell Therapy Unit of the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC), Dr. José Cardier, stressed that this convention is held in Venezuela every two years.
In the activity, Cardier said, all the advances and research carried out in Venezuela will be exhibited in terms of regenerative medicine, updates of topics such as gene edition, as well as talks about bioethics and regulations in the field.
«We are going to touch the issues that have to do with the stem cell, their biology, their function, about the advance we have in the non -union of bones in congenital diseases as well as in adult patients; We are going to touch new skin issues, leather regeneration, retina regeneration, and advances in regenerative dentistry, ”said the IVIC researcher.
Regarding the point of regenerative dentistry, Cardier said they will present all the investigations carried out in Venezuela and recalled that three years ago “the first world work of dental pulp regeneration.”
“last year we also made another new regeneration article of other donors and that protocol has advanced a lot of dental pulp regeneration,” he said.
-He explained that these regenerative treatments are carried out jointly with the specialists of the IVIC Dentistry Service.
In this regard, he recalled that two years ago the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, inaugurated the White Chamber of the Cell Therapy of the IVIC Regenerative Medicine Center, in order to process all these cells to be able to have tools to address the patients who need it.
Venezuela at the Vanguard of Regenerative Medicine
During the program, Cardier recalled that the works carried out in the IVIC Cell Therapy Center for Cell Therapy Unit are unique in Latin America and some treatments are on a global scale.
He recalled that in May 15 years of having carried out the first bone regeneration interventions in an 83 -year -old person and a child under eight years of age.
“Those projects, those protocols for the regeneration of stem cells, of bones, we apply them in the most important hospitals in Caracas, at the Autonomous Institute of the Andes University Hospital and in the last three-four years we are operating only in Yaracuy, where we have had an important support of both the pediatric and adult hospital and we have continued to advance in the field of bone regeneration,” he said.
