The president of the United States, Donald Trump, has signed an executive order to encourage the coal industry with the aim of satisfying the growing energy demand of the data centers in the face of the increase in the use of artificial intelligence.
“All those plants that have been closed will be open again if they are modern enough or will be demolished and new ones will be built,” Trump stressed in front of a group of workers in the coal industry.
The Republican tycoon explained that he will order the Secretary of Energy, Chris Wright, to be invested in state -of -the -art technology to favor the sector. He will also ask the Department of Justice to relax the regulations on this fossil fuel, according to Bloomberg.
Shortly before, the White House spokeswoman, Karoline Leavitt, said in a message posted on social networks that “coal is essential to achieve American dominance in energy and artificial intelligence.”
Trump has not hidden his intention to reverse all kinds of economic, political and social commitments in the field of environment and, in fact, has returned to the United States out of Paris agreements to combat climate change.
