Rome-. The Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, reaffirmed by telephone to her Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi, her conviction to the recent terrorist attack in that country and the condolences for the 26 victims of the same, a statement said today.
A note published on the official site of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, indicates that in the telephone exchange made on the eve, the leaders approached the complex situation from the attack on April 22 in the town of Pahalgam, in the Cashmiro region.
A few hours after these facts, the Italian president issued a message in which she said that “I am deeply saddened by the terrorist attack that occurred today in India, which has caused numerous victims” and said that “Italy expresses its closeness to the affected families, to the injured, to the government and the entire Indian people.”
Meloni reiterated to Modi, last Thursday, Rome’s commitment in the fight against international terrorism and both agreed on the need to further strengthen bilateral dialogue and joint action in that area, the document points out.
The Indian Security Forces investigate to identify those responsible for that terrorist action, claimed by the so-called Resistance Front (FRT), a group associated with the pachystani lashkar-e-taiba (let), outlawed by Islamabad.
In response to that action, the Security Committee of the Indian Cabinet decreed, among other measures, to suspend the Treaty of the Water of the Indo River established with Pakistan and the entry of citizens of that country under the Visa Exemption Plan of the Association of the Meridary Asia for Regional Cooperation.
For his part, Pakistan cut the commercial relations with India on April 24, closed the airspace to the airlines of the neighboring country, and warned about the dangers of a greater deterioration of the links between the two nations.
