The smile of sharks is the of the scientist Marina Gádor Muntaner, who debuts in the literature with a book that is at the same a declaration of love of the ocean and a of marine life. Muntaner’s first book, edited by Planet, combines personal stories, scientific anecdotes and reflections on the importance of protecting marine ecosystems and, especially, sharks.

The author immerses us in a that covers from her first encounter with a shark in the Maldives to expeditions on Guadalupe Island or the Arctic and shares experiences that feed the fascination by the sea and its creatures. The work achieves a balance between scientific dissemination and personal narration. Muntaner combines the collection of data on sharks (more than five hundred known species, many still to be discovered) dotted with personal experiences, arguing how sharks are essential for life and that their conservation is a worldwide need.

Gádor Muntaner, born in in 1991, changed the pharmacy career for the Sea Sciences to the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, specialized in the study of sharks in and has participated in research projects on the movements of the Punta Silver Shark and the impact of pollutants on the white shark.
