In Andalusia, this May 1, International Workers day, two different calls have been held in almost all Andalusian provinces. One made by the CCOO and UGT majority unions, which have had their demonstration in the eight Andalusian capitals, and another organized by base unions that have managed to organize calls in all the provinces, except in Huelva and Jaén. While the one convened by the great organizations had as its unitary claim the reduction of the working day, in the various calls of minority organizations, the focus on the violation of the companies with respect to the employees, the need to rethink the culture of work, a criticism of the policies of the different governments in terms of labor rights and the need to mobilize the working people.
In Seville, the CNT, CGT, USTEA, SAT and CO.BAS class unions have mobilized 2,500 people in a demonstration in which the assembly for the house of Seville and the city’s anarchist assembly has also participated with its own block. A demonstration that has started from the Andalusian Parliament and that has reached the mushrooms, making a stop at the Duo Tapas restaurant, where the inadmissible layoffs executed by the hospitality company has been denounced, in addition to the evictions that it has promoted in the center of the city. “These entrepreneurs are enriched offering miserable working conditions and taking advantage of the needs of the people who find it hard to pay for rent,” they explained from the CGT organization.
Under the slogan “Neither cannon meat, nor pattern meat, nor speculation meat”, the manifestation of class unions in Granada has gathered more than 1,000 people. In the city, the call has been promoted by CNT, SAT, USTA and CSTA and points out that “the alternative to this system of exploitation, misery, oppression and war necessarily passes through the solidarity and unity of the working class” and points out that we must not resign himself to “a life that ends up falling from a scaffold, with the body broken after decades cleaning rooms, without being able to retire, in the street. Eviction for not being able to pay the rent, without health personnel to attend us, without workers who guarantee our social rights and sending our youth to die in a distant trench for the benefits of a few. ”
A thousand people have traveled the workers’ neighborhoods of Cádiz in a demonstration that claims “unity and labor solidarity.” A call in which the metal guild workers whose mobilizations have been repressed by State forces on different occasions has been special mention. On May 19, the trial of the workers of the Acerinox company who were on strike will be held for 2024 and those that the company asks for 28 million euros in compensation.
May 1 combative in Cádiz
In the city of Malaga, alternative unions have constituted a block within the demonstration organized by the majority unions, with the exception of CGT, which has decided to transfer its mobilization to the town of Antequera.
In Almería and Córdoba, alternative mobilizations have also been made to those of large unions, congregating hundreds of people in the center of both cities.
