The Ecuadorian government will demand from the Colombiannes the certificate of the yellow fever vaccine when arriving in the country since May 12. This demand will also affect travelers from Brazil, Bolivia and Peru.
The requirement applies to:
- Travelers of nationality or residence of Peru, Colombia, Bolivia and Brazil.
- Travelers of any nationality or residence that have remained more than 10 days in transit or visit in these countries before entering Ecuador.
The certificate must indicate that The vaccine was received at least 10 days before the trip. Being a vaccine that is effective for a lifetime with a single doseEcuadorian authorities will accept certificates issued in previous years.
The vaccination certificate must be submitted when addressing the means of transport that transferred the traveler to the country by air, land or maritime, without exempting that at the entrance point of the country it will be requested again.
The Ministry of Tourism of Ecuador recalled that “This requirement is established in relation to the health emergency declared by Colombian government authoritiesdue to an outbreak of yellow fever that affects several departments located in the border area with Ecuador. ”
“Likewise, Peru, Bolivia and Brazil also face high infection indices of this disease; especially in Border Amazonian territories”he pointed out.
So far, Ecuador reports three cases of recently detected yellow feverof which one of them died in the Amazon province of Zamora Chinchipe, bordering with Peru.
