The United States and Ukraine have finally signed the agreement for the exploitation of critical mineral reserves (those used in key technologies).
- The pact arrives after months of negotiation and tensions between both parties.
- And, finally, it is more beneficial for kyiv of the one proposed at first by the US president, Donald Trump.
What is it? It allows the United States to invest in projects to exploit Ukrainian natural resources (such as aluminum, graphite, oil and natural gas).
- The two countries will benefit from 50% of the resources after, during the first decade, the profits of the agreement are fully invested in recovering the country of the Russian invasion.
- And, as a counterpart, USA undertakes to give material and financial help to Ukraine to overcome “the great Russian invasion”, as well as to support their safety, prosperity and reconstruction later.
When will it come into force? When the Ukrainian Parliament approves (predictably in mid -May).
Why is it important? It was an indispensable requirement for the US to continue in the peace negotiations.
- In addition, he brings the positions between the US and Ukraine, which he recognizes as “free, sovereign and safe”, owner of his natural resources.
