Consternation in Tilodiran, Yopal for murder of young woman at the hands of her ex -partner
A tragedy shakes the corregimiento of Tilodiran, in jurisdiction of Yopal, Casanare, after confirming the murder of Mónica Andrea Moreno Ibáñez, a 25 -year -old girl who has lived for several years in this rural area. The woman was attacked with a firearm on the night of May 1 on the outskirts of her home.
According to preliminary versions and the testimony of relatives, the alleged responsible would be his ex -boyfriend, Rubén Estupiñán Cuéllar, who would have sustained an argument with the victim moments before the attack. According to his sister, Yulieth Moreno, the man already had a history of violence reported to the Prosecutor’s Office, for acts of aggression against Monica.
The incident occurred around 9:30 pm when Estupiñán, armed, intercepted the young woman and shot her repeatedly, causing her almost immediate death. Subsequently, the aggressor would have removed his life with the same weapon, his body being found a few meters from the place of the crime, in a wooded area and of little visibility.
The Police and the Prosecutor’s Office advance investigations to completely clarify what happened, although the indications point to a passionate crime. The authorities have not yet confirmed whether it would be formally a case of gender violence, but family members and members of the community indicated that the victim had already warned about aggressive behaviors of the victimizer.
The fact has generated shock among the inhabitants of the sector. Some neighbors described Rubén Estupiñán as a quiet, collaborator, and even occasionally hired by the Mayor’s Office as a sports monitor. “This left us speechless. No one imagined something like that,” said a resident.
This new episode of violence has ignited alarms about the need to strengthen the prevention of cases of domestic violence and feminicide, especially in rural areas where many times complaints do not receive timely follow -up.
The Tilodiran community remains dismayed and duel, while judicial advances and an official pronouncement of local authorities on what happened are expected.
