The Argentine cumbia singer assumed the responsibility of making his diagnosis public as a call to consciousness, especially aimed at the young people who follow him
Argentine singer Jonathan Müller, popularly known as “the villain,” publicly revealed that he lives with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), through a video broadcast on his social networks.
In the message, he explained that his family and friends learned at the same time as his followers, and said he decided to share his diagnosis as an act of sincerity and responsibility with those who follow him.
“I felt very good, in my best moment of life. I went to the doctor because my belly hurt, I looked skinny, I felt tired. They sent me to do several analysis, including HIV’s, and gave positive,” said the artist. He clarified that for two years he maintains a stable relationship and that his current partner has not been infected.
The villain talked openly about his past marked by excesses, drug use, alcohol and a messy sex life, to which he attributes the possible infection.
He assured that today he is in a spiritual transformation process guided by his faith. “When you are in shit, the only thing that can get you there is God,” he said.
The singer expressed his desire to be “authentic and real” from now on and called his followers, especially the youngest, to become aware of the importance of health and spiritual connection. “I didn’t want to keep it for me. They share this message with your family, friends and children,” he concluded.
People with HIV can have a full, healthy and long life if they follow a constant and supervised antiretroviral treatment. With early diagnosis and adherence to treatment, it is possible to reduce viral load to undetectable levels, which also prevents the transmission of the virus to other people.
