A dozen International airlines announced this Sunday (04.05.2025) that will temporarily suspend their flights to Israel, after a missile launched from Yemen by the Hutíes rebels impact on the area of the Ben Gurion International Airport, in the city of Tel Aviv. Among the companies are Lufthansa, Air France and British Airways.
The German group Lufthansa, which includes Eurowings, Swiss, Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines, announced at about noon that it would suspend all its flights from and to and to Tel Aviv until Tuesday, as a security measure after the fall of the missile. Air India also made the same decision, arguing that it was necessary “to guarantee the safety of our clients and personnel.”
Companies such as Air Europa, Air France and the low cost line Wizzair adopted the same decision. The British firm British Airways issued a statement shortly after which indicated that it made the determination to cancel its flights from and to the Israeli city, “including the BA405 on Wednesday, May 7”.

On the website of the Ben Gurion airport you can see the canceled flights this day, including takeoffs of companies such as Air Serbia, Italy Arereo, your Airways, United Airlines, the Al Israel Airlines and Ryanair, and planned arrivals of All Nippon Airways, Delta Airlines and Air Canada, many of which had as its origin or destination cities like Frankfur Munich.
“It is the first time that a missile falls so close to the terminal and the landing tracks,” a spokesman for the Israeli airport authority told AFP. However, already in the past various airlines suspended flights to Israel, even for much more extensive period, among other reasons for drones and missile attacks launched by Iran.
This Sunday’s attack, which were attributed to Yemen’s hutis, would have been perpetrated with a hypersonic ballistic missile that hit “successfully”, according to the rebels. The explosion left at least six people injured, of which four suffered injuries directly related to the explosion and two other wounds on their way to shelters.
