The Brigadier General Edwin Urrego, commander of the Metropolitan Police of Barranquilla, confirmed on Sunday, May 4, the arrest of an individual in the northern tribune of the Roberto Mélendez Metropolitan Stadium, in the middle of the meeting that was played this Saturday between Junior and América de Cali.
“The National Police achieved capture at the Roberto Meléndez Metropolitan Stadium in the city of Barranquilla de Óscar Javier Sayas, 36 years old. This person originated a quarrel with a white weapon when the sporting event between the Junior of Barranquilla and América de Cali was held,” said General Urrego.
According to the authority, Sayas has several judicial annotations for the crime of threats, theft, personal injury, homicide, arms trafficking, among other crimes.
This media knew that the homicide investigations of the detainee correspond to the years 2008 and 2011.
“This person was made available to the Attorney General’s Office. We want to remember all citizens that wearing a white weapon within a massive event is penalized by law,” said the senior officer.
Recall that the District City Hall and the Police had arranged a surveillance plan for the sports meeting that was accompanied by 477 uniformed men of the Barranquilla Metropolitan Police. There was also a unified command post from which the incidents in the sports scene and its surroundings were analyzed in real time.
