The Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, declared this Sunday that he does not believe that Russia will respect a three -day truce, from May 8 to 10, on the occasion of the commemoration of the end of World war II in Europe.

“This is not the first challenge or the first promises that Russia makes a stop to the fire,” Zelenski told reporters during a joint press conference with President Czech Petr Pavel.
“We know who we are dealing with, we don’t believe them,” said Zelenski, who arrived in Prague this Sunday for a two -day visit accompanied by his wife.
“Today and all these days they are talking about what you want a sort of high to the partial fire, but you should know, for example, that the number of attacks today is the highest in recent months,” said the Ukrainian president.
Citing a military report, Zelenski said Russia carried out more than 200 attacks on Saturday. “So there is no faith in them,” he added.
For his part, Petr Pavel, an ex -general from NATO, said that “Putin can end the war with a single decision, but so far he has not shown any will to do so.”
The Czech Republic, a member country of the European Union and NATO, has provided humanitarian and military aid to Ukraine since the Russian invasion began, in February 2022.
In addition, it has received more than half a million war refugees and proportionate equipment to the Ukrainian army, such as tanks, armored vehicles and helicopters.
According to the Russian presidency, Putin made this decision “for humanitarian reasons” and to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany, which Russia prepares to commemorate with great pomp on May 9.
