Caracas, May 4 (EFE) .- Lindomar Jesús Amaro Bustamante, one of the hundreds of detainees in Venezuela after the controversial re- of President Nicolás Maduro in July year, died “in the custody” while he was in a prison in the Aragua state (north), two NGOs denounced this Sunday.

The Committee for the Freedom of Prisoners indicated, in an X publication that Amaro, who was in the context of post -election crisis in the Cojedes state (center) by officials of the National Police (PNB) while heading to his home on a motorcycle, took his life on .

“The reported cause was hanging inside its cell,” said the NGO.

Amaro, after his arrest, had been transferred to the Tocorón prison, in the Aragua state.

“According to relatives, Lindomar had already attacks his life and, although they warned it, he did not receive medical attention or protection. This omission aggravates the responsibility of the State for an avoidable ,” the publication added.

The organization also warned that Jhoandri Joel Silva Lara, also arrested after the presidential elections last July, “tried to commit suicide” in the same prison.

“He was recently discharged from the Military Hospital of Maracay (Capital of Aragua) after a nervous breakdown caused by confinement, abuse and anguish by his youngest daughter,” said the committee.

The NGO said that the “extreme suffering” of young people detained after the presidential ones, many in bump, “subject to inhuman conditions, torture, suicide attempts, nervous breakdown and incommunication” has been denounced.

“All this responds to a pattern that seeks to break their resistance and silence their relatives through fear and reprisals,” he added.

The Committee demanded that the Venezuelan State guarantee the integrity of all detainees, as well as investigate this death and all those that occurred in custody, “sanctioning those responsible, including the current director of the prison, Juan Carlos Quezada, indicated by relatives as one of the main responsible for the infrahuman conditions.”

He also said that with this event “there are already at least six people deceased in custody of the Venezuelan State between 2024 and what goes from 2025”.

Amaro’s body, the committee detailed, was transferred to Cojedes, where “he was buried expressly” this Sunday.

Meanwhile, mothers in of the truth argued, in a statement, that they have denounced before the Public Ministry (MP, Prosecutor’s Office), the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) and the Ministry of Penitentiary Services the “bad quality and the insufficient amount of and water received by those deprived of liberty, which has caused them a significant loss of weight and serious problems.”

“We have also warned about physical punishments and psychological torture to which our relatives are being subjected,” he added.

The organization denounced that both young people had been “in punishment and isolation regime”.

According to the NGO Criminal Forum, in Venezuela there are 906 people considered political prisoners, most of them after protests against the of the presidential elections.
