‘We were not able to sustain the level of the first half performance’

Graham Potter spoke to BBC Match of the Day after West Ham’s draw against Tottenham: “It was a decent performance from us, half especially was strong.

“Spurs scored against the run of play. We started on the front foot and were very positive, pressed well, pressed high. It was a derby so we wanted to make it that way. A lot of what did in the first half was positive.

“It was a body blow to concede because it was a mistake from nowhere but to the players because them came back into the game and deservedly equalised.

“Disappointed in the half because we weren’t able to sustain that level of performance.

“We had some opportunities, probably not that much but a decent, solid performance.”

On a scrappy contest: “Start-stop, a derby so there were challenges, it was competitive. Spurs condense the pitch you have the so not easy to sustain possession and have attacks. But the boys tried. It was a tight game.”

On Niclas Fullkrug: “He linked up well, gave us a focal point at the top of the pitch. The positive for us is that we scored a really good goal. Jarrod [Bowen] attacked the back line well.

“Niclas played his part in a decent performance, certainly first half and gives us a longer option as well.”
