In the fight against drug trafficking, the United States government, through the inter-project Task force-South, (JIATF-S), evaluated the operational standards of the Colombian aerospace force -FAC-, within the frame This transnational crime.

Since 2003, Colombia and the United States have strengthened this strategic alliance, focused on procedures for the neutralization of aircraft used in transnational criminal activities. The program also contemplates technical-operative strengthening through crew training and the provision of technical assistance, contributing to reducing the improper use of national and regional airspace.
They are 22 years, in which the FAC has certified and maintained the operation combined with the inter-project Task Force-South, achieving a reduction in the illegal use of national airs illegal.
On this occasion, the operational exercise was carried out in the Air Combat Command N.3 in Malambo, Atlantic, which simulated the detection, monitoring and interception of a suspicious aircraft in the national airs aircraft Jiatf-S staff, the United States Embassy and the Federal Aviation Administration participated as observers of this scenario.
Within the certification process, the Zeus strategy was also addressed, led by the Colombian aerospace force since 2019, which has allowed us to integrate regional efforts with other countries of the continent; This initiative has strengthened interagential and combined operations for effective air space control and support for maritime interdiction, thus reducing illicit flights and weakening associated illegal economies.
The evaluation represents a key step for the revalidation of the ABD certification, allowing to maintain bilateral cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking and organized crime, this type of alliances continues to position Colombia as a regional reference and preferential in the defense of its sovereignty and in the fight against transnational threats.
