Karen Read’s new trial for Karen Read will resume on Monday, after an intense judicial week that included the testimony and the contrainterrogatory of the key witness Jennifer McCabe.
On Friday the jury was informed that this week there will be a full day in court.
On Friday he concluded with the testimony of Hannah Knowles, a forensic scientist of the Criminal Laboratory of the Massachusetts State Police. Knowles said that, according to the blood extracted at the Good Samaritan hospital, the concentration of alcohol in Read blood at the time the prosecutors suspect that he ran over O’Keefe, “at 12:45, could be between 0.14 and 0.28”, according to Knowles.
Knowles was the next witness cited after Jennifer McCabe, known for performing the search on Google “Hos Long to Die in Cold” (how long does it have to die in the cold?), Who was on the stage for three days.
McCabe is considered a central figure in the case, since it was one of the two people with Read when they found O’Keefe. Until now, its appearance is very different in the second trial: it seems more friendly, it smiles throughout its testimony, establishes visual contact with the jury and smiles widely when it does.
McCabe testified that he remembered that Read told a lifeguard: “I hit him. I hit him. I hit him.”
Defensor lawyer Alan Jackson subsequently questioned McCabe’s memory about that point, stating that it was not what she had told the Grand Jury.
“Mrs. McCabe, not once used the phrase ‘I hit him’ in relation to my client before a grand jury on April 26, 2022, right? Not once,” he said.
Mcabbe replied: “I would have to read the 227 pages to see it.”
Read declared innocent to run over O’Keefe, her boyfriend, with her truck and let him die. Shortly after his body was found, McCabe declared Wednesday that he did a Google search on hypothermia, “Hos Long to Die in Cold” (how long does it have to die of cold?), At the request of Read.
The defense argues that McCabe conducted the search that same morning, which Read reiterated after Wednesday’s audience.
“I did not tell Jen to do a search on Google. Therefore, I did the 2:27 minute,” Read to the press told Read.
The defense alleges that Read was incriminated as part of a conspiracy.
