Within the framework of the 49th International Book Fair that is carried out in Buenos Aires until May 12, this Monday the results of the Literary Contest Foundation The Book 2025 were announced, which annually distinguishes volumes of unpublished stories written in Spanish language. And this time, Cordoba literature received very good news.
The seventh edition of the contest, which had more than 500 applications from 24 countries, chose Sebastián Menegaz as winner of the Mayor Prize. The winning stories volume was presented with the pseudonym Woody Bellani, which corresponds to the author of Villa Icho Cruz. The podium, meanwhile, completed it Noemí Solimando and Jorgelina Palavecino, second and third prize respectively.
The jury, composed of the writers Alejandra Kamiya, Margarita García Robayo and Juan Becerra, selected the three works that their respective awards will receive this Wednesday, May 7, from 19, in the Domingo Faustino Sarmiento Said of the White Pavilion of the Rural.
In the case of the author Cordoba, he was awarded for his unpublished book SNARK crew. The winning work was Distinguished by “Advance with a solid, safe writing. So much that it is allowed to disguise itself as a translation and make all kinds of games to create its own universe.” The economic prize for this distinction is 5 million pesos.
Born in 1981, Sebastián Menegaz is a writer, critic and filmmaker and graduated from the Faculty of Arts of the National University of Córdoba. He is currently a collaborator in media as another part, the dilettante and Hurlingham Post.
