The mayor of Avilés, Mariví Monteserín, congratulated yesterday for this new step towards the construction of the phase of the Esapa an equipment that the governor had been claiming the Principality for a while and that has been in regional budgets for years, which until now have only service to finance the project for the new property.

Monteserín recalled that this investment of seven million euros will serve “to complete the equipment”, which most of its 23 years of history has been divided into two different venues and that, if the were fulfilled, it could be turned unified from the 2028-2029 course.

“This is very for Aviles, and a commitment to the education system,” said the mayor yesterday after knowing the decision of the approval of the investment and the construction of the new building. “Our goal is to be the best equipped possible to provide the best service to citizens,” he said.

The Avilesina councilor also recalled that the Principality will allocate 24 million euros to build new equipment in Avilés, adding the 17 million planned for the Grandiella Vocational Training Center.

The CIFP of La Grandiella went to the fore the Principality presented the regional budgets of 2021, in December 2020. At that only 46,000 euros were collected and it was more a commitment than an investment close to execute. In the best case, four years will have to be expected so that the works can finally be launched.

Delays

The of the art , however, is an issue that has been discussed for much more time, since when it was launched in Valliniello, he is already aware that it was not the ideal place. The construction of the new headquarters was made in two phases. It was in 2011 when the collaboration agreement was signed between the City Council of Avilés and the Principality, and the works were not awarded until 2015. Their implementation was still waiting until the 2019-2020 course was well entered by the delay in the equipment of the property.

In October of that year, the then Minister of Education, Carmen Suárez, announced in a visit to the new PEPA building that the second phase would cost five million and would be ready for this course, a term that has not been fulfilled.

Now, in addition to completing this second phase of the Higher School of Art, a new will still have to be faced to improve accesses to the educational center, which could be included in the plan of the island of innovation, which considers the construction of a new bridge over the estuary at the height of the Esapa and that would mean a great advantage for , which now have complicated access to the center
