Miami, May 6 (EFE) .- A second suspect was arrested in connection with the death of Mexican journalist Adam Manzano, 27, who was found lifeless last February in a hotel in New Orleans, where he moved to cover the super bowl.
Rickey White, 34, was accused on Monday of second -degree murder, according to Kenner City, a suburb of New Orleans.
White was arrested in southern Florida last March for accusations of theft and fraud related to the death of the reporter and subsequently extradited to Louisiana.
Kenner’s Chief of Police, Keith Conley, said at a press conference that the investigators had linked White with Danette Colbert, the first suspect accused in the case, arguing that the evidence pointed out that “they worked together.”
Colbert, 48, was accused of homicide positions in second degree, theft and fraud.
The woman was captured in video leaving the hotel room where Manzano’s body was found. He was also captured using Manzano credit cards after his death in several local stores.
The woman already had a criminal record that includes accusations of drugs, robbery and fraud with credit cards.
In addition, it had been convicted at least three times for the illegal use of credit cards of men with whom it was found in Bourbon Street, the epicenter of the New Orleans tourist area, the investigators said.
The autopsy determined that the journalist died lying face down and unable to breathe after ingesting a combination of alcohol and the Xanax depressor.
Manzano, originally from Mexico City, graduated in journalism at Kansas State University in 2024. Since April 2021 he served as a sports host and reporter in Telemundo Kansas City. EFE
