The leader of the Kosovo Democratic League (LDK), Lumar Abdixhiku, has rejected the offer raised Monday by Prime minister, Albin Kurti, to form a coalition of government and, on the other hand, has advocated a transition cabinet that involves all the formations representing the Albanian community.
Abdixhiku heads the third most voted game in the February elections, so Kurti had resorted to him to get out of the current ‘Impasse’. From the February elections, the new Parliament has not even been formally constituted.
The LDK leader has recognized that Kosovo is going through “a deep constitutional crisis”, but has completely blamed Kurti’s inability to weave a majority. Thus, he has appealed to a “national conscience” but not to the extent raised by the Prime Minister, since he understands that a two band cooperation is impossible.
In his response, he urged the creation of a transition government that brings together the Albankosovar community and with a view to stabilizing the situation waiting for new elections, according to the RTK television network.
Kurti’s party, which has governed Kosovo for more than five years, was imposed on the February elections, but did not reach the absolute majority and depends on other supports to be able to stay in power. It remains to be seen if this need to weave alliances forces the prime minister to soften some of his most controversial positions, especially those directed against the Serbian community and have generated criticism by key partners such as the European Union.
