Mexico City. We “are not thinking about the nationalization of any television,” said President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, given the proposal that the director of the Economic Culture Fund, Paco Ignacio Taibo II last Council of Morena, made on TV Azteca.
In defending the freedom of expression that exists in Mexico, he said, that he “can say his opinions, he has the right,” he said.
But “it does not mean that we agree with those that Paco says … it is not the intention of the Government of Mexico, much less, but there is freedom of expression,” he said. Also, he recalled that “the owner of TV Azteca (Ricardo Salinas Pliego) says many things.
-“You listen to this television. If we put in the detector of lies to the television we would not end all the mornings; it is a lie after lies, after lies, after lies, after lies, but there is freedom of expression.”
What we do decide, he stressed, “is that (the businessman) pays his taxes, yes, but there is freedom of expression.”
He affirmed that “you cannot agree that there is free expression for each other, no. Or there is free expression, or there is no free expression. And we are in favor of the Hay and he (Taibo II) can say his opinions. He has the right.
He insisted: “Paco has every right to say what he thinks.”
