Rubén Capdevila Paralympic cyclist, he lost his vision in 2006 after he was diagnosed with the congenital amuser disease of Spain, champion of Spain in several modalities such as cycling en route, track at kilometer, speed…. and Rosa sansaloni Pioneer in female cycling, its first license dates back to 1985 highlighting the time record in 1995 exceeding 37 km, they have joined in a unique challenge, paralympic and female cycling.
Rubén (Castellón) had in mind the challenge of the 24 Hy to do it for the benefit of an association. when commenting on Rosa (which is from Tavernes de Valdigna, Valencia) proposed that her pilots be all women. Rubén said YES and in favor of the Association of Multiple Sclerosis of Castellon, a team of 18 women from Alicante, Castellón, Guadalajara, León and Valencia met in the Port of Sagunto: Ana Belén Pérez, Carmen Pons, Carmen Serrano, Chelo Ruiz, Elena Martín, Irene Ortega, Julia González, Laura Rovid Nuria Juan, Pilar Macian, Rafi Torres, Raquel Reyes, Rima Gramaliauskiene, Rosa Sansolini, Victoria Ramírez. Three of them that could not be due to health problems, leaving a final team of 15 pilots.
They were 24 hours very intense for Rubén that ended up excited, giving confidence to each of its pilots “it is not easy to adapt as they adapted to each of us, fears, hobbies, cadence, way of taking curves” that says a lot about this great cycling professional, 15 pilots that the vast majority had not taken a tandem, “Rubén makes it easy.”
Rosa excited as Rubén, was at all times pending the hydration and food of Rubén, being the first and last pilot of the Paralympic cyclist.
The pilots took a great “totally inexplicable” experience “suffering, overcoming, laughs, team”, “has overcome all my expectations.”
It began at 12.00 on May 3, ending 24 hours later at 12.00 on May 4, 660 km tours in a 2.5 km circuit, family and friends did not miss at any time even at night. There were critical times such as when the radios were broken at the beginning, the punctures at night, unexpected rain, some dark areas, starting at 06.00 am wind of more than 25km/h, some clueless car in the opposite direction … the worst hours for Rubén were the last 3, exhaustion, very painful areas of the body …
Rubén wanted to send this message about his 24 -hour challenge in depth. “Without words, thanks to all the pilot girls (to whom they were pedaling and those who could not pedal for physical problems) that without them would not have been possible, you are already a little piece of my heart, thank you special to rose for getting into these embolanos for me, if you had not organized it could not have been done. Thanks to all those who passed there to encourage. fighters “
