The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, will meet with the Venezuelan president, Nicolás Maduro, in Moscow on Wednesday and both leaders will sign a strategic agreement, according to Kremlin.

The spokesman, Dmitri Peskov, told the that it would be a “framework of weight, substantial and very important”, without providing details.

Putin will also receive the Cuban leader, Miguel Díaz-Canel, who, like Maduro, will participate in the celebrations for the 80th anniversary of the Red Army over Nazi in World War II.

Moscow strategic partners

A Russia War in Ukraine has caused a breakdown of its relations with most Western countries and has promoted Moscow to strengthen ties with other countries that share their desire to counteract the influence of what the “ west”, including the United States.

Since 2022, Russia has already signed pacts of strategic association with China, North Korea and Iran, to which Venezuela will now be added. During his visit to Moscow, Maduro will also attend a parade on in the Russian capital.
