
Gáldar prepares for a historic appointment in Gran Canaria. Automobile in particular and sport in general is partying and Gáldar will be part of it with the 49th edition of the Canary Islands Rally, which for the first time is part of the world Rally Car.
This Saturday, April 26, Gáldar becomes the arrival of a 24 -kilometer stretch that will have two passes: the first at 8.0 and the second at 15.05 hours. The section will enter Gáldar through the GC-702, touring the Pinos de Gáldar and will continue through the GC-220 that connects Juncalillo with Fagogesto through the Pinar de la Herradura until concluding at the height of the crossing with the Palomino road, shortly before access to the GC-217 (Road of Las dams).
Teodoro Sosa, mayor of Gáldar, underlines the value of continuing to be part of an event of this caliber: “Gáldar could not miss this historical edition. We have a commitment to the Canary Islands rally and with the huge fans to the engine world, very consolidated over the years,” he said, in addition to remembering the municipal collaboration also in other tests such as the rise of Juncalillo or the northern region.
-From Friday, April 25 at 10:00 p.m. and until the end of the Canary Islands Rally, around 5:00 p.m. on Saturday 26, the GC-220 will be closed to traffic at the 20,950 kilometer point (after the payment of caideros, at the height of the mill crossing), in addition to the entire section of the GC-702 corresponding to the municipality of Gáldar.
This traffic cut will affect the neighbors of Juncalillo, Barranco Hondo, Fagagesto and Palomino, among other payments and hamlets of the Altos de Gáldar.
The Department of Physical Activity, Sports and Health of the City of Gáldar is delivering to the citizens who have already requested an authorization from the residents so that they can access and leave their homes from 10 pm on Friday 25 to 5.00 on Saturday 26, that is, up to three hours before the start of the section. From there the road will remain closed except in case of medical emergency.
