Thanks to the advanced corning manufacturing technology, the new Corning® Gorilla® Glass Ceramic 2 offers a higher resistance in the Galaxy S25 EDGE, the thinner model of the Galaxy S series to date to date
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. and Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) announced today that the next Galaxy S25 Edge will feature Corning® Gorilla® Glass Ceramic 2[1]a new ceramic crystal that provides advanced protection in a surprisingly thin design. Driven by a shared vision of overcoming the limits of mobile engineering, Samsung and Corning joined forces to ensure that the Premium S series experience balances elegance with resistance.
Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 extends further the legendary resistance that characterizes Corning® Gorilla® Glass. Combining the advanced corning glass technology with the Samsung’s own reinforcement processes and technologies, the Gorilla Ceramic 2 Gorilla cover of the Galaxy S25 EDGE offers an elegant and resistant design.
“The Galaxy S25 EDGE will establish a new standard in design and performance such as the thinnest device of the Galaxy S series so far,” said Kwangjin Bae, EVP and Head of the R&D team mechanics of the Mobile Experience (MX) division of Samsung Electronics. “To support this revolutionary design, it was essential to develop a material for the screen that was exceptionally thin and, at the same time, reliably resistant, a challenge that brought together Corning and Samsung, driven by a shared vision of engineering with purpose and user -centered innovation. That vision is present in every detail of the Galaxy S25 Edge.”
The Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 incorporates precision embedded crystals in its glass matrix, which improves durability and the ability to divert cracks on the screen cover. Synergy between glass and glass components has been designed to offer greater resistance, while maintaining high optical transparency. As a key part to improve damage resistance, the corning ion exchange process further reinforces ceramic material and improves residual resistance to the roof.
“With Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, we have achieved an exceptional combination of thinness and resistance, providing consumers with the best of both worlds: an extraordinary durability in a modern, stylized and premium design,” said Andrew Beck, vice president and general manager of Corning® Gorilla® Glass. “The quality of the Galaxy S25 EDGE with Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 reflects Corning and Samsung’s commitment to meet the changing needs of consumers worldwide.”
