The Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, said Thursday that kyiv is willing to establish peace conversations with Russia “in any format” during a phone call with his American counterpart, Donald Trump.
“Ukraine is willing to establish conversations in any format, but for this Russia must demonstrate the seriousness of its intentions to end the war, starting with a high total and unconditional fire,” he said on social networks.
Zelenski has informed the Republican tycoon about the latest events in the front. “We have talked about the need to continue the efforts to achieve peace, including those concrete measures that could be taken,” he said.
He also reiterated that kyiv “is ready for a high 30 -day fire.” “We expect Russia’s support for this proposal,” he said, adding that Trump has assured during the call that “wishes the end of war” and that “he is willing to help.”
The two leaders, who have congratulated each other for victory Day in Europe-who commemorates the victory of the allies over the Nazis in World War II-have agreed during the telephone conversation “to maintain new contacts.”
The call between them also occurs after the Supreme Rada, the Parliament of Ukraine, has approved this Thursday the agreement with the Trump administration for the exploitation of mineral resources in Ukrainian soil.
The historic covenant, held by Zelenski during the call with Trump, was sealed last week. Both Washington and kyiv aspire to open a new stage of political and economic cooperation after the succession of threats from the White House tenant.
