The port of Santa María (Cádiz), 24 (Europa Press)
The motor in the port of Santa María (Cádiz) will have one more year with a violet point, a tool to prevent sexist violence, sexual aggressions and guarantee a safe festive environment during this event, which will bring together thousands of bikers in the town between this Thursday and next Sunday, April 27, coinciding with the celebration of the MotoGP Spanish Grand Prize in the Jerez circuit.
The violet point will be operational from this Thursday to Sunday from 23.00 hours to 03.00 hours, and will be located in Pedro El Majaras, the City Council has indicated in a note.
This space will offer direct, confidential and personalized attention, especially youth oriented, to prevent any type of aggression or vulnerability situation, acting as an information, accompaniment and help point.
According to the City Council, the night schedule responds to “a previous analysis” that states that “alcohol intake is one of the main triggers of macho aggressions in contexts of large concentrations.”
Under the motto ‘free. Enjoy without aggressions’, the device will also rely on the dissemination of stickers and informative materials. Violet point professionals will travel the main leisure premises to publicize the service and how to access it if necessary. Likewise, information on how to act in case of suspicion and the resources available for an immediate response will be provided.
-It will be treated by a multidisciplinary professional team formed by a psychopedagogue, a social worker and a criminologist psychologist, all with specific training in gender equality and experience in intervention in vulnerability contexts.
Thus, the space will guarantee at all times the anonymity and confidentiality of the people who approach, and will be equipped with all the necessary resources to act immediately, including the automatic activation of the protocol of attention to an aggression and the derivation to the specialized services, such as the Unit of Attention to the Family and Women (UFAM) of the National Police.
This year there will be emphasis on the prevention of chemical submission, a form of violence that consists in the administration of substances without consent to annul the will of the victim. To do this, protective covers for vessels will be distributed, made with safe and approved materials for food use, which avoid manipulation of drinks.
The Councilor for Equality, Silvia Gómez, has shown her confidence in the deterrent effect of the violet point and has pointed out that “I hope the protocol does not have to activate”, because “it will be a sign that no incident has occurred in our city and that the wisdom and good ways have prevailed at all times and in any scenario.”
Gomez has also said that the fact of not activating any protocol during the weekend will be a sign that “the population fond of the two wheels in matters of sexual violence would have been sensitized and a safe environment would have been achieved, promoting an leisure and a party based on respect.”
