WWE carried out releases on Friday, May 2, continuing what has become an almost annual practice of letting talents go from the main roster and NXT in the weeks following WrestleMania.
The most high-profile releases included Braun Strowman, Shayna Baszler, and Dakota Kai. Strowman is a former Universal Champion, while Shayna Baszler previously held the NXT Women’s Title and WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. Her release came as a shock to many within WWE. Dakota Kai, meanwhile, was part of the Damage CTRL stable and had previously held the NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles and WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships.

The main roster talents released by WWE are subject to 90-day non-compete clauses, while NXT wrestlers have a 30-day non-compete.
While not released, Shotzi has been informed by WWE that the company won’t be renewing her contract. She will leave the organisation when her deal expires.
