It’s about ‘The Pitt’, a fabulous doctors series that you can see in Movistar Plus+, which has gone unnoticed by the moment in Spain but say that it has many ballots of being lA series with more Emmys of 2025. In fact, the specialized means that its protagonist, Noah Wyle, Emmy could take away the best dramatic actor from Adam Scott, the megafavorite for ‘separation’.
The genre of doctors, with more or less emphasis on the procedural, has always been very successful among the public, but repeating formulas. However ‘The Pitt’ seems much more relevant than others; With that format that reminded me of ’24’ aspires to establish your own identity.
‘The Pitt’ is starring Noah Wyle, which may sound like one of the actors (chance?) Of ‘Emergency’. From this mythical series, his creative team also proceeds and even the decoration of the emergency room remembers it. The series is placed in Pittsburgh, and the name of the hospital, Pittsburgh Medical Trauma Hospital, It gives rise to the words ‘The Pitt’.
-‘The Pitt’: a mixture between ‘Emergencies’ and ’24’
Wyle plays an experienced and empathic doctor, ‘Robby’ Rabinovich, very different from his role as a student in ‘Emergency’. One of the biggest differences with gender is the format: Each episode covers an hour of Robby’s turn, from 7 am to 10 pm (hence ’24’). This narrative almost in real time allows a more intense and realistic immersion in the daily chaos of a hospital.
‘The Pitt’ adapts the formula to the current context. Although he maintains the focus on urgent issues such as the opioid crisis and pandemic, He does it with a frantic rhythm that reflects the stress that health workers live. That rhythm also reaches patients in the waiting room, other protagonists, with a criticism of the American health system that in Spain, we also suffer.
The cast is broad and diverse. Robby’s colleagues are Dana Evans (Katherine Lanasa), a firm boss nurse; Dr. McKay (Fiona Dourif), a major resident and single mother; and Dr. Santos (Isa Briones), a arrogant rookie who begins to face the hard reality of work.
Directed by John Wells, ‘The Pitt’ clearly establishes the physical space of the hospital and is very credible with details such as the constant use of medical language or the flow of patients from residences early in the day. Nevertheless, The series does not completely escape dramatic exaggeration, accumulating extreme cases that sometimes seem more fiction than real life.
Even so, ‘The Pitt’ joins A new wave of medical series that portray hospitals as overloaded health spaces, rather than as heroic temples. Robby, affected by the death of his mentor during the pandemic, manages to balance human warmth and realism, leading his team and the spectator through an intense and moving day. Be careful, Ben Stiller, because ‘The Pitt’ has all the ingredients to become one of the great series of the year.
