Caracas (EFE) .- The Venezuelan government extended for two weeks more the measure of reduction of the working day in the public institutions of the country to, said, mitigate the effects of the climatic crisis that have affected the reservoirs that produce electricity in the Andean region.
The executive vice president, Delcy Rodríguez, announced the extent of the measure so that public bodies will maintain their 08.00 local time (12.00 GMT) until 12.30 local time (16.30 GMT), according to the Ministry of Electric Power in a press release.
Likewise, the measure of 1 × 1 will be maintained, “which consists of a working day for a non -working day.”
During the working day, he continued, public workers “will complement their special schedule supporting the strengthening of communal self -government theaters, fulfilling inherent work to the consolidation of communal circuits as fundamental organs of popular power.”
Called to adjust energy use
Rodríguez also urged the rest of Venezuelans to take measures such as adjusting the temperature of the air conditioners, taking advantage of natural light and disconnecting those equipment that is not being used.
The Ministry of Electric Power announced on March 23, in a statement, the reduction of the workday in public entities for a period of six weeks, due to the drought that has affected the water level of the reservoirs that generate electricity in the Andean region.
On August 30, 2024, Venezuela lived the longest blackout since March 2019 -when the oil nation spent several days in the dark -after suffering an electrical ruling that cut the energy in Caracas and in the 23 states of the country for which the Government held, as on other occasions, to the majority opposition.
The country suffers daily failures in the supply of electricity, especially in regions far from Caracas, of which the government repeatedly holds the anti -achavism, despite the fact that military monitor the industry facilities, while the opposition and experts denounce poor management, lack of maintenance and corruption.
