One of the world’s largest mineral deposits was discovered between Argentina and Chile.
It was reported today Vicuña, a joint company formed equally by the Canadian Lundin Mining and the Australian BHP, which says that the integrated projects Filo del Sol and Josemaría, located on the border between the two South American countries, contain more than 12 million tons of copper measured, along with dozens of millions of ounces of gold and silver.
“The new evaluation of sun edge resources and Josemaría consolidates the position of the project as one of the largest copper, gold and silver deposits in the world,” said Vicuña in a statement.
Filo del Sol and Josemaría are in the Argentine province of San Juan, in the west of the country, although part of the Sun’s edge extends to the Chilean region of Atacama.
The first field is in the exploration phase, while the second is in a preconstruction phase.
The strategic agreement is read in the note, “it intends to take advantage of the synergies among the close garages of the Sun and Josemaría to optimize the shared infrastructure and allow gradual extensions.”
