SEATTLE — Mitch Haniger hit a grand slam in the sixth inning two batters after Arizona ace Zac Gallen left the game with right hamstring tightness and the Seattle Mariners beat the Seattle Mariners 6-1 on Friday. Diamondbacks.
Gallen (3-2) walked Josh Rojas to start the sixth and left in the middle of Julio Rodríguez’s at-bat.
Rodriguez singled off Acott McGough and Cal Raleigh advanced with a walk to load the bases for Haniger, who hit a 389-foot shot to left field.
Rojas and Mitch Garver also homered for Seattle and Emerson Hancock (3-2) pitched six strong innings. Rojas hit a home run on Gallen’s first pitch and Garver made it 2-0 in the second.
Arizona’s Kevin Newman homered in the sixth, one of two hits Hancock allowed.
Gallen allowed three hits and three earned runs.
For the Diamondbacks, Dominican Ketel Marte is 3-1. Cuban Lourdes Gurriel Jr. 4-0. The Venezuelans Eugenio Suárez 4-0, Gabriel Moreno 3-0.
For the Mariners, the Dominicans Jorge Polanco 2-0, Juli Rodríguez 4-2 with one run scored.
