With the Spanish cyclist Juan Ayuso (UAE Emirates) wearing the leader’s yellow jersey, the 77th edition of the Tour de Romanda competes today in its fourth stage, the one considered the queen stage, of 151.7 kilometers between the Swiss towns of Saillon and Leysin. , with more than 3,500 meters of accumulated positive slope.
The first-class ports will open and close the day, to begin with Ovronnaz (9.1 km at 9.5%) and the finish at Alto de Leysin with the 13.8 kilometers at 6 percent that lead to the finish line.
Ayuso, leader after this Friday’s time trial in which his American teammate Brandon McNulty won, considers before the queen stage this Saturday that he will be the target of all the rivals’ attacks, but hopes to “keep the yellow jersey protected by the equipment”.
The Spaniard is 11 seconds ahead of Carlos Rodríguez (Ineos Grenadiers), 41 seconds ahead of Enric Mas (Movistar), 51 seconds ahead of Adam Yates (UAE Emirates), 1 minute and 3 seconds ahead of Simon Yates (Jayco-AlUla), 1 minute and 13 seconds to Egan Bernal (Ineos Grenadiers) and in 1 minute and 16 seconds to Richard Carapaz (EF Education-EasyPost).
