Astros and Rockies enjoyed a day off to explore some streets of the Mexican capital and try its cuisine.

With a day off in Mexico City, players from the Houston Astros and the Colorado Rockies showed how much they enjoyed walking through the streets of the Mexican capital. Elements of both organizations did not hide their excitement about the food and getting to know a little about Mexican culture.

As of Thursday night, both the Astros and Rockies arrived in Mexico City for a two-game series to be held this Saturday and Sunday, respectively, at the Alfredo Harp Helú Stadium. On Friday, some had commercial and promotional events, while others, in the company of their families, walked around their hotel and went out for lunch or dinner.

“I wasn’t worried about anything. I know that the city, along with MLB, do everything right. I speak for the Rockies and we have had no problems with food, security or traffic. The food is good and the clubhouse is very good. Security, good. I can’t wait to play and after the game you go to the beer. “No problem,” he said. Bud Blackmanager of the Rockies.

“We had a day off yesterday. The players come accompanied and yesterday we went out to dinner and had a good time. My friends had the opportunity to meet several teammates and it feels good because it is difficult for them to go to the United States,” highlighted José Urquidy, Mexican pitcher for the Astros.

Many highlighted the opportunity to walk through the streets of the Mexican capital in the company of their families, as they made the trip to Mexico City to share the opportunity to play outside the United States.

“I had the opportunity to walk the city. I loved. I liked coming back. I tried tacos and chilaquiles. I loved it and I hope to come to Mexico City to explore this beautiful city,” said José Altuve, one of the Astros’ best bats.

“Here almost everything is similar, like in Santo Domingo. The restaurants are very good, the people, the street, the buildings, everything is similar and also the food,” shared Framber Valdez, who will be the Astros’ starter in Sunday’s game.

“Everyone is super happy to come. We talked about this trip since spring training. They wanted to know if we were going to have a day off because they wanted to spend time with their family. Clearing your mind is very important,” he said. Joe Espadamanager of the Astros.

“It’s my first time in Mexico City and the traffic is incredible. We went out as a team, had breakfast and dinner together, but we are very happy to be here. Baseball in Mexico is something that the fans are passionate about,” Espada added.
