CHICAGO — Andrew Benintendi hit a two-run homer in the 10th for his second homer of the. game and of the season and with which the Chicago White Sox beat the Tampa Bay Rays 8-7 on Saturday.

Benintendi had three hits and six RBIs to help Chicago achieve its second consecutive victory and fifth of the season. The White Sox’s 5-22 record is their worst start through 27 games. Baltimore started the 1988 season 3-24.

Benintendi got the win by hitting the first pitch he received from Phil Maton (0-2) over the right field wall.

Automatic runner Curtis Mead scored from third on a wild pitch from Dominican Deivi García (1-2) in the top of the tenth to put Tampa Bay up 7-6.

Ben Sheets and Andrew Vaughn also drove in runs for Chicago.

Richie Palacios hit for two runs and finished with three hits, but Tampa Bay lost for the fifth time in six games.

For the Rays, Cuban Randy Arozarena went 1 for 6 with two RBIs. Dominican Amed Rosario 4-0. Mexican Isaac Paredes 5-0. Panamanian José Caballero went 1 for 5 with an RBI.

For the White Sox, Dominican Eloy Jiménez was 2-for-5 with one run scored. Puerto Rican Martín Maldonado 2-0.
